My new show at Spot81 gallery, starts next Wednesday 18th May. I will be showing the four panoramic still life paintings that were first shown at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery survey show, along with some smaller works. I will be travelling down tomorrow, with my car full of paintings, vases, bowls, vegetation etc to set up a still life in the gallery.
The big opening will be on Saturday 28th May 3-5pm, with Charles Waterstreet as the guest speaker, but please come in before this if you want to view the exhibition in a more peaceful situation.
Here are some of the new smaller works – the first one is Roses and Red Brows. The birds in the painting are red brow finches which flock around here, and jump into my bird bath in profusion.
This painting is Rabbits – after Goya. I have painted a still life of the rabbits that were part of the large Winter Still Life. Goya did a marvellous painting of hares waiting for the dinner table, and I have based my painting on this.
This painting is the daffodils in my garden in Spring. I liked the joy and lightness in these effervescent blooms.
This painting is titled Winter Table I and is a smaller still life of the winter produce, including the rabbit, rose hips, pine cones, onions, daphne. It is 91 x 91cm.
There are other paintings you can see on the Spot81 website which has all the artworks in the show.
Hope to see you there.
